The Governors' Trophy/Wings MVP was established in the 1973-74 season at the request of the graduating players. In 2023, in celebration of the Wings’ 50th anniversary, this award was named the Coach Peter Gall MVP Award in honor of Coach’s Gall’s contributions. In addition, with the renaming of the award, generous Wing alumni players will look to award $1,000 to each future recipient.
